Important Information
What Is Cell Salvaging?
Cell salvage involves the collection, filtration, and purification of a patient’s own blood for reinfusion during or after surgery. While various blood transfusion methods are available, utilizing a patient’s own blood during surgery has been medically demonstrated to be superior to using stored blood from a blood bank.
The process is facilitated by a specialized cell saver machine, which handles all essential transfusion procedures. By replenishing the patient’s red blood cells, the cell saver promotes proper healing following a plastic surgery procedure.
