The training.
Dr. Simmons completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology, cum laude, at the University of South Carolina, and went on to graduate from the same institution’s School of Medicine, again with honors. He served as Chief Resident during his plastic surgery residency in New Orleans and trained as a Craniofacial and Microvascular Surgery Fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the most demanding fellowships in the field.
The practice.
For more than twenty-five years he has operated as a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, with active staff privileges at Palmetto Health, Kershaw Health and Lexington Hospitals. His patients consistently describe the same two things: the unhurried first hour of consultation, and a willingness to turn down surgeries when the right answer was not yet on the table.
Outside the operating room.
He has held faculty appointments and built clinics, but he describes the consult room as the place where most of his real work happens. Recognized by Alpha Omega Alpha at medical school and by patients ever since.
